Grants, Programs & Scholarships
Each Friday, Triangle Community Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations throughout the Triangle and beyond. Totaling approximately $12 million annually, these grants come from donor-advised funds, agency and designated endowment funds and the Foundation’s new Community Grantmaking Program.

Grants from Donor-Advised Funds: There is no application process for these grants; rather, fundholders advise Foundation staff as to where they would like their grants made. Often, fundholders seek guidance from staff about which nonprofits are doing work matching their charitable interests. For this reason, it is important nonprofits keep members of our Philanthropic Services Team informed about their organizations, including special projects and funding needs.

Grants from the Community Grantmaking Program: Through this open, competitive, discretionary process, Triangle Community Foundation provides funding to Triangle-based nonprofits with annual budgets of less than $750,000. Grants, ranging from $10,000 to $15,000, are made in both the spring and fall of each year to initiatives promoting Civic Engagement and Youth Leadership & Development. Deadlines, FAQs and applications are available online, or you can contact Robyn Fehrman, Community Program Officer, or 919-474-8370, ext. 128.

Scholarships and Awards: Triangle Community Foundation administers a number of scholarship and award funds created by individuals, families and businesses to support the growth of Triangle residents. Descriptions of each scholarship and award as well as details about how to apply are available here. For more information, contact Libby Long, Scholarship and Special Projects Coordinator, or 919-474-8370, ext. 134.
