Triangle Community Foundation to Offer Nonprofit Capacity-Building Workshop
Event includes expo of nonprofit resources and information on Federal stimulus funding

Durham, N.C. (June 11, 2009) – Triangle Community Foundation, in response to the economic challenges facing many area nonprofits, is offering a half-day workshop where nonprofit leaders will receive expert advice about strengthening their organizations and accessing federal stimulus dollars.

‘Retool for 2010: Building a Brighter Future for Triangle Nonprofits’ will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Bay 7 of Durham’s American Tobacco Campus. Registration is open at http://www.trianglecf.org. Cost is $15 per person, including lunch and materials.

  • John Replogle, CEO of Burt’s Bees, will give the opening keynote address entitled The Challenge to Lead
  • Dempsey Benton, head of the North Carolina Office of Recovery and Investment, and Kathy Powell of the State Energy Office will explain how nonprofits can access federal stimulus dollars
  • Professional service providers in fundraising, strategic planning, board development, financial management and employment law will lead 40-minute workshops in their areas of expertise.  Participants can choose to attend up to three workshops.
  • A Nonprofit Resources Expo, made up of professional service providers and groups that support nonprofits, will afford participants the opportunity to learn more about resources available to them.
  • Triangle Community Foundation will also release results from a survey of 250 area nonprofit executives, who gave input into the kinds of support they need in order to survive and thrive during the economic crisis.
