Durham, N.C. (August 18, 2009) – In response to overwhelming demand from area nonprofit agencies, Triangle Community Foundation is offering a half-day workshop where nonprofit leaders will receive expert, in-depth advice about organizational strength, fundraising and board development.
‘Retool for 2010: The Sequel’ will be held Thursday, August 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education.  Registration is open at http://www.trianglecf.org.  Cost is $35 per person, including lunch and materials.

  • Christy Shaffer, President and CEO of Inspire Pharmaceuticals, will deliver a welcome address recognizing the value of nonprofits and of community engagement.
  • Professional service providers will lead the following 90-minute workshops: Building Organizational Strength, Building a Fundraising Plan That Works, and Building an Effective Board.  Participants will choose to attend two workshops, and they will share information about their organizations’ current challenges that will inform the development of each workshop.
  • Lunch will provide opportunities for networking and for small-group discussions.
  • ‘Retool for 2010: The Sequel’ will build upon a June 23 workshop developed by Triangle Community Foundation as part of its Economic Response Initiative to bolster regional nonprofits in the midst of a down economy.  More than 270 nonprofit leaders attended that event, held at American Tobacco Campus in Durham, and 98 percent of those surveyed said they would like to attend more workshops offering in-depth and personalized assistance.  That feedback prompted Triangle Community Foundation to organize ‘Retool for 2010: The Sequel.’
