Durham, N.C. – Triangle Community Foundation today announced the recipients of its Community Grantmaking Program (CGP) for spring 2012. The Foundation made grants totaling $240,000 to 18 nonprofit organizations; nine grants in the focus area of youth leadership and development and nine grants in the focus area of civic engagement.
The Community Grantmaking Program recipients for spring 2012 are:
Youth Leadership & Development Grantees
•Artspace, Inc. :$10,000 for Artspace Outreach Program
•Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle : $15,000 for Mentoring Children of Prisoners
•Central Carolina Community College Foundation, Inc. : $9,450 for Natural Chef Youth Nutrition and Sustainability Camp
•Communities in Schools of Wake County : $15,000 for Operation Eligibility at Moore Square and Ligon middle schools
•Haw River Assembly : $11,500 for Robeson Creek Water Quality Solutions Project
•Loaves and Fishes Ministry, Inc. : $14,050 for Youth Empowerment through Exposure
•Neighbor to Neighbor Ministries, Inc. : $15,000 for Asset Bridge Connection
•Reality Ministries : $15,000 for REBOUND!
•Student U : $15,000 for Read Fearlessly
Civic Engagement Grantees
•Chatham County Literacy Council : $10,000 for Citizenship and Civic Engagement in an Adult Literacy Program
•Democracy North Carolina : $15,000 for Respect Our Vote
•El Centro Hispano : $15,000 for Durham County Latino Initiative Health and Policy Study Program
•Institute for Southern Studies : $14,700 for Triangle Election Watch: Voting Rights Media and Education Project
•Marian Cheek Jackson Center for Saving and Making History : $15,000 for Furthering and Implementing Fair Housing in Chapel Hill
•MomsRising (NC Project) : $15,000 for North Carolina MomsRising
•NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina Foundation : $15,000 for Building the Base; Engaging the Grassroots
•NC Center for Voter Education : $17,500 for 2012 Triangle Voter Guides and Young Voter Outreach
•Threshold : $2,800 for Advocating for Ourselves
Since its inception in spring 2007, TCF has made grants totaling over $2.3 million. This highly competitive program has received 1,015 grant proposals and awarded 182 grants to 103 nonprofits, 47 of which received multiple grants. On average, this programs awards more than $420,000 per year to nonprofits serving our communities.

Triangle Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that manages $145 million in funds established by individuals, businesses and families. From these funds, we give grants to nonprofit organizations and administer a variety of programs for the community’s benefit.
