TCF Announces New President / CEO

June 29, 2012

Durham, N.C. – The Board of Directors of Triangle Community Foundation (TCF) announced today the appointment of Mark V. Bensen of Raleigh as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, effective August 13, 2012.

“This announcement culminates a rigorous search process that began earlier in the year,” said Rick Guirlinger, TCF Board Chair. “We are pleased to have Mark join TCF as its next leader.  His extensive experience in the nonprofit sector and his lifelong connection to our region will continue to advance the tremendous efforts made by Interim President/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr., Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Lori O’Keefe, and the entire TCF staff.”

Bensen joins TCF from MDC, a national nonprofit research organization where he held the position of executive vice president.  “I am honored to join the terrific team at TCF,” Bensen said. “Innovative philanthropy and effective stewardship of our region’s financial and social capital are essential to our growth and advancement, and TCF is well-prepared to lead on all fronts.  I look forward to engaging the Foundation’s important mission, and to helping widen the circle of success and prosperity to more people in the Triangle.”

“Mark is well established in the Triangle area and brings a wealth of experience from highly regarded nonprofits,” Wynn said.  “His vision, intellect and leadership style will blend well with TCF’s collaborative, work team-oriented culture.”

Triangle Community Foundation is a nonprofit charity that manages $150 million in funds established by families, businesses, individuals, and organizations. During the 2011-12 fiscal year, the Foundation granted more than $14 million to nonprofits, schools and community efforts.
