Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship

Administering Organization

North Carolina Foundation for Nursing

Purpose

In 2008, the Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship Fund was created at Triangle Community Foundation as a tribute to Carol and to her dedication, passion, and commitment to nursing by the Beerstecher family.  Their desire is that this fund will assist those individuals who may share Carol’s passion for nursing, but who may not have the financial means to achieve those dreams.

Carol Ann Beerstecher was deeply committed to the profession of nursing.  She received her BS in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971 and following graduation worked as a nurse in the pediatric intensive care united of Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.  After she returned to UNC to pursue a master’s degree she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and dedicated the remaining six years of her life to the problems of terminally ill patients and their families.  She passed away in 1979 at age 29.

Triangle Community Foundation has partnered with the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing to establish a scholarship program to support students who pursue pre-licensure nursing education on a full-time basis.
