Retool for 2010 Workshop, June 23, 2009

Triangle Community Foundation leverages our role as community leader, partner, and convener to provide additional value to our vibrant nonprofit sector. Initiatives include workshops, capacity building, networking opportunities, training, and more.

The Foundation reaches out at little or no cost to the community by providing:
- Conferences, roundtables, and forums on community and nonprofit issues
- Guidance for nonprofit leaders on endowments, governance, and programs
- Research and presentations of local and regional needs
- Frequent speakers at workshops, trainings, and community gatherings
- Service on advisory boards for nonprofits, chambers of commerce, and public commissions
- Free meeting space in our office for nonprofit organizations
- Disaster relief funds like those created for 9/11, , Hurricane Katrina, and the Myanmar cyclone
- More than 140 scholarship funds

Lunch with the President
On a monthly basis, the Foundation’s President, Andrea Bazán, hosts lunch for nonprofit leaders from across the Triangle. These gatherings are informal opportunities for participants to discuss emerging trends, share best practices and resources, and to network. Of equal importance is the fact that they have the opportunity to learn about each other while they also educate Foundation staff about their work.

Economic Response Initiative
Triangle Community Foundation convened a task force of foundation and nonprofit leaders to forge its Economic Response Initiative in Spring 2009.  The Foundation’s response to the economic downturn consists of providing various forms of technical assistance to help nonprofits organize, plan, collaborate, and build capacity. it is important for the Foundation to take a lead role in supporting nonprofits during this downturn to better prepare them to weather this crisis, and equip them with tools for long term sustainability and success.
