Our Leadership

Triangle Community Foundation is governed by a Board of the Triangle’s leading citizens. The Board of Directors is the Foundation’s chief policy-making body. As such, the Board bears ultimate responsibility for the legal, financial, administrative, grantmaking, community service, and fundraising activities of the Foundation.  The President is responsible for executing the Board’s policies and for operating the Foundation under the Board’s guidance.

New Members are elected by the Board under recommendations by a Board Nominating and Governance Committee chosen annually by the President. Board members serve a three-year term and can succeed themselves for one term. The Board invests and administers the Foundation’s funds with the assistance of the Finance Committee. The Philanthropic Services Committee oversees the grantmaking function.

The Foundation also benefits from the expertise of the Foundation Leadership Council. This advisory council is comprised of long-time supporters, most of them former Board chairs, who have elected to continue their service to the Foundation. The Leadership Council was created in 1994, the Foundation’s tenth anniversary year, to extend the Foundation’s outreach to the community, enhance the Foundation’s asset development capacity, and to draw upon the knowledge, abilities and experience of key supporters of the Foundation.
