Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

How can my organization receive a grant from Triangle Community Foundation?

Answer:

Triangle Community Foundation makes grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, government entities and faith-based groups.

Over 85% of our grants are made through donor-advised funds.  Organizations cannot apply for these funds. Instead, the Foundation’s Philanthropic Services staff works with fundholders to match their philanthropic interests with community needs. Fundholders then make recommendations about where money from their funds should be granted.

The Community Grantmaking Program is an open, competitive grantmaking program to which organizations can apply for funds. This program is open to organizations with a total annual organizational budget of $750,000 or less that work in the areas of Civic Engagement or Youth Leadership & Development.

Additional competitive funding opportunities are available through some of the charitable funds that we manage.  More information is available here.
