In 1994, in association with its tenth anniversary, the Foundation created the George H. Hitchings Society to recognize donors who have included the Foundation in their estate planning.
Nobel Laureate Dr. George Hitchings founded the Triangle Community Foundation on the belief that “service to mankind, broadly or individually, is the greatest fulfillment in life.” The Foundation continues to be guided by that principle today and honors those individuals who commit resources to philanthropy by naming TCF a beneficiary in their wills, trusts, insurance policies, or retirement assets.
Beyond simply memorializing the names of these visionary philanthropists who have made estate or planned gifts, the Hitchings Society serves as an example or inspiration for others who may not realize the tremendous opportunity their own planning might offer for charitable giving.
The Foundation gratefully acknowledges these Hitching Society members, who have collectively committed more than $100 million in future charitable gifts. Their generosity will make a difference in the vitality of our community for generations to come.
