We are excited to announce our 2010 Send A Kid To Camp Partners:
Autism Society of North Carolina
Camp Royall, a program of the Autism Society of North Carolina, provides campers who due to the diagnosis of autism cannot attend traditional camps, a week of exciting traditional camping activities, with emphasis on the camper having a positive and enjoyable experience.
The Boys and Girls Club of Wake County
The Boys and Girls Club of Wake County enables all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. At the Boys and Girls of Wake County’s Camp BTI, campers will participate in canoeing, swimming, fishing, archery, sports, arts and crafts, and hiking.
Chapel Hill – Carrboro YMCA
YMCA of Chapel Hill – Carrboro provides a wide range of camp options for children of all ages living in Orange and Chatham Counties. Children can participate in camps for sports, cooking, art, science, outdoor activities, acting, leadership development, and more.
Chatham County 4-H
Chatham County 4-H provides both sleep-away and day-camps for children where campers “learn by doing.” Campers can attend overnight camps where they will participate in traditional camp activities, and learn responsibility and teamwork with their cabin-mates. Additionally, 4-H offers an overnight Leader In Training program that focuses on teaching the leadership traits and characteristics for counselors in training. Day Camp activities include presentations on topics ranging from environmental health, fire prevention, agriculture, nutrition, soil and water conservation, and more – as well as traditional camp activities.
The Emily Krzyzewski Center
The Emily Krzyzewski Center will host two day camps this summer for children living in Durham; the Duhon Basketball Camp and the Justice Theater Project Drama Camp. The Duhon Basketball Camp is a one week camp led by experienced basketball players and coaches, including former Duke star and current New York Knicks’ player Chris Duhon. The Justice Theater Project Drama Camp is a two week long camp where students study acting, improvisation, dance, and the disciplines of design and production.
John Avery Boys and Girls Club
John Avery Boys and Girls Club inspires and enables all youth of Durham, ages 6-18, particularly those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The actives enjoyed at Summer FUN Camp reflect the values of Education and Career Development; Sports, Fitness, and Recreation; Character and Leadership Development; the Arts; and Health and Life Skills. Campers will also be exposed to interesting places around town through planned field trips.
North Carolina Bankers Association Foundation
Camp Challenge, a program of the North Carolina Bankers Association Foundation, is a one week sleep-away camp for rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders where campers learn about financial literacy through the Life With Bills program. Campers receive an hour of instruction in money management each day and participate in camp activities like swimming, hiking, horseback riding, arts and crafts, archery and more.
Wake County 4-H
Wake County 4-H Sleep Away Summer Camps provide a variety of camp programs for campers from Wake County. Camp activities include horseback riding, canoeing, arts and crafts, rope courses, swimming, team building, nature classes, and more. There is a Leader in Training Program for older campers to develop leadership skills in preparation for their roles as assistants to the counselors.
Walltown Children’s Theatre
Walltown Children’s Theatre will host a two week camp at the North Carolina School of Science and math for campers from Durham interested in learning about the arts. Instruction will be given in artistic disciplines such as acting, piano, visual arts, dance, and fencing.
YMCA of the Triangle
Camp High Hopes of the YMCA of the Triangle is designed to provide a nurturing environment, positive role models, character development and safe, fun activities for campers from Wake and Durham Campers. Camp High Hopes is help at St. Augustine’s Campus, Southeastern Seminary, NC Central University, and Leadmine Elementary School.
